Community Benefit Fund

As part of our commitment to being a good neighbour to the communities in which we operate, Wheelabrator Technologies has provided a community benefit fund for local community groups and organisations. In 2018 and 2019, we’re making £50,000 available to community initiatives and organisations.

Through the development of Wheelabrator Kemsley North (WKN) – as well as proposed changes to Wheelabrator Kemsley (K3) – we’ll be extending our community funding and support initiative.

Some examples of the support given to date include:

  • We recently funded the purchase of a bowling machine for the youth teams of the Swale Cricket Association in Kent.
  • Young footballers on the Iwade Herons U9 team have bought new home and away football kits this season, all thanks to a community funding award from the K3 community fund.

We will accept applications from projects or organisations that will directly benefit our host communities. This covers an area north of the A2 from Bobbing in the west to Tonge in the east, and north to the Sheppey crossing. It also covers an area of Sheppey immediately to the north of the Wheelabrator Kemsley site. See map here.

Organisations based outside of this area are eligible to apply, as long as they can prove how the award of funding will have a beneficial impact on the communities within it.

You can download a PDF version of our application form here and a Word version here. Once you have completed your application form, please email it to enquiries@wtienergy.co.uk or post it to The Communications Team, Wheelabrator Technologies, Portland House, London, SW1E 5BH.
